Artisans

Textiles are one of the sacred elements in indigenous worldviews. They represent the connection between human beings, nature, and the cosmos. Rich in meaning, textiles serve as a complex system of communication and language, through which the ancient inhabitants of the Americas have left their marks. Passed down through generations and influenced by the cycles of nature that regulate the entire production process, this knowledge is communal, with each weaver engaging in their own creative act. This rich textile heritage is kept alive through the daily practices of women and men, who, in each piece, renew the memory of their ancestors. Most of these pieces come from remote and hard-to-reach communities. They all speak of identity, belonging, and diversity, and form part of the national and universal cultural heritage.
